PUT YOUR TRUST IN THE LORD

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. (Psalms 20:7-8 KJV)

The word trust is defined as “firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.” It depicts the anchor of an individual and defines their belief system! The Psalmist through observation saw that some trusted in chariots and some in horses. These were symbols of war, the number of chariots and horses one had caused fear to enter his enemy. Today we would look at the number of war planes, war vehicles and guns a country. Some put their firm belief in the reliability, truth or ability of these. Others trust in the money and resources that they have! The Psalmist overlooks all these and says “we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”

When David faced Goliath, he was not a decorated soldier like his opponent, he had a sling in his hand and five stones (1 Samuel 17:40). All of his trust was in the name of the Lord. As a result a giant that experienced soldiers like Saul feared fell before David! Those who put their trust in the Lord will rise and stand upright but those who trust in something else are brought down and fall.

The name of the Lord stands as a strong tower. Jesus gave instruction to us His disciples and said in John 14:13,
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” The name of Jesus holds power overcome all that you can imagine when whether weapon or person! If you use His name in prayer asking for whatsoever you desire, it will be done! Dreadful diseases are healed in His name! Failing businesses are turned around! Attacks of the enemy are put away as we stand and ask in the name of Jesus.

Refuse to let the deceptions of things to take your trust away from the name of the Lord. Countless times we see in the word of God kings that trusted in their armies fall like flux before those who trusted in the Lord. When the children of God trusted in the name of the Lord and sang praises to Him, in 1 Chronicles 20 the enemies turned against each other! What battle are you facing today? Remember the name of the Lord and put your entire trust in it!

I pray for you today that your eyes may see the name of the Lord only, even in the thick of battle. May your total reliance and trust be in His name.

Declare this,
As I put my trust is in the name of the Lord I see my enemies falling. I am receiving answers to my prayers. Strongholds are cowering as I lift my voice to praise Him alone. I remove my eyes from all the other things and put my trust in Him alone.
