TAKE OFF THE PRISON GARMENTS

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life. (Jeremiah 52:33)

Download audio version - From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

One thing I have observed in the word of God right from Genesis to Revelation is that those who managed to reap fruit from God’s Word are those who were willing to take action. Without action, there will no results no matter how powerful the prophetic word is!

Abraham was willing to take the new assignment, Moses was willing to go back to Egypt, David was willing to have the oil poured on him even though he was a boy. He was also willing to run towards Goliath even though everybody else was running away! All these were men of action which resulted in a change of story in their lives.

God brings deliverance your way but it is up to you to embrace it. You must be willing to change the prison garments. You are not going to eat bread continually with the king wearing prison garments. God so loved you He delivered you from all the past pains but if you continue wearing the garment of bitterness and unforgiveness there is no next stage. You remain a prisoner!

God delivered you from poverty but nothing will happen unless you get into action with those hands! He is not going to rain money bills from heaven, they would be counterfeit and will not work here. Delivered yes but take off the poverty garment!

As long as you are wearing the prison garment you do not see opportunity. Those who look at you see a prisoner and will shy away from giving you the next level. My question to you is, what direction do you want to take? The next level need a new type of dressing. How are you projecting yourself in the realm of the spirit? You are blessed yes but you must embrace that blessing by force because there is an enemy who wants to keep you a prisoner and has mastered ways of stealing what’s rightfully yours.

Tear off that prison garment! Erase those prison memories! Burn that diary that you recorded how tough it was! Vengeance is of the Lord not yours. He is more excited to see you eating the good of the land.

Declare this,

I change the prison garment to a kingly one! From today on I will sit and eat with kings. I erase all the negative memories. For bitterness, I take love, for unforgiveness I choose forgiveness. I embrace a new me willingly and with action!

DANCING IN THE STORM

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

As they fled before Israel, while they were descending [the pass] to Beth-horon, the Lord cast great stones from the heavens on them as far as Azekah, killing them. More died because of the hailstones than the Israelites slew with the sword. (Joshua 10:11 AMP)

Download audio version - From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

As they fled before Israel, while they were descending [the pass] to Beth-horon, the Lord cast great stones from the heavens on them as far as Azekah, killing them. More died because of the hailstones than the Israelites slew with the sword. (Joshua 10:11 AMP)

One writer once said “not all storms are bad for you. Some storms come to help you.” As Joshua entered the promised land with the children of Israel, they knew that it was not going to be easy. It would be war after war as there were kings waiting to be removed so they could occupy the land! From the outside eye, they were outnumbered but they had an advantage their enemies could not discern- God!

At one time the kings of the area entered a pact and attacked the allies of Israel. God’s word to Joshua was simple, “Don’t fear them, I have given them into your hands.” Fear is the opposite of faith, it can numb one and prevent them from collecting the promises that God has laid bare before them.

In obedience, Joshua and his men of war arose. There are times when numbers do not matter but who you stand with! The multitudes fought against Israel but with God’s help victory was imminent. When the enemy realized his error in judgement, they started fleeing! They looked at numbers, counted chariots and horses but all those do not matter before God!

It is beautiful when God literally joins your battle. Your enemies might have a head start but God is always years ahead of their strategies. A storm built up and hailstones began to fall, not small ones but big! They had a target on them! The enemies of God’s people. Those who were killed by the hailstones were more than the ones that the soldiers killed. As they pursued all they could see were their enemies dead on the ground. What would be your response? Dance in the storm!

You might be facing giants, your situation might be looking impossible! Things might seem insurmountable and your resources insufficient. Through faith you can let God join this battle. When you begin to walk by faith and not by sight, He will join in and do a more than what you are capable of! He will take the sting out of that storm and your response will be to dance in praise of Him.

I pray for you today that your fears disappear and that faith takes over. You will see God in the land of the living as you begin to walk by faith and not by sight.

Declare this,

I will not be afraid of any situation that wants to displace me from my promised land. With God I know I stand like ten thousand armies. I pronounce victory in the midst of storms, and yes storms are working in my favour!

I MEDITATED ON THE WORD

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors. (Psalms 119:23-24)

Download audio version - From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

In this world we do pass through many difficult circumstances. One of the main tough trials we deal with are; negative words, especially those spoken against you by seemingly powerful people. Words have the power to penetrate straight into ones heart, if not dealt with effectively.

The Psalmist found himself in this situation where powerful people sat and spoke against him. How did he deal with it? The question always is, ‘what is your response?’ He did not allow the negative words to penetrate his being as that results in all sorts of problems, anxiety, depression and fear to name a fear! He instead went to the word of God! You cancel words with the Word! Negative words bow to the positive words. When Christ met with the tempter, He kept answering by saying ‘it is written!’

The word of God has an answer to all your situations! Instead of endorsing the words of the ‘princes’, choose to agree with God’s Word and meditate on it! Think it, speak it and cancel what the enemy is trying to place on you via negative words! Find comfort and counsel in the testimonies of God. He parted the Red Sea, He will part your difficult situation and you will walk on dry ground. He fed millions of Israelites in the desert with meat, something seemingly impossible in the eyes of man!

Don’t give the devil a blank Cheque into your life, to endorse the words that are being spoken against you, on the contrary collect your victory and build your faith by meditating on his Word and testimonies!

I pray, that you will develop the strength to ignore the negative words and meditate on the Lord’s Word and testimonies. Victory is imminent.

Declare this,

I rise from depression and anxiety through the word of God. I refuse to allow the words of the enemy into my inner man, rather I meditate on God’s Word and his testimonies. Victory is mine, in Jesus’ name!

YOU ARE BLESSED

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee. (Deuteronomy 7:14-15 KJV)

Download audio version - From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

In the word of God there are what we call promises and there is what we call ‘present hour realities.’ The above scripture gives us a present hour reality. Now are we the sons of God, not yesterday and not in the sweet by and by! It is important to understand this as the revelation carries amazing power!

God’s promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. He is the same yesterday, today and forever! The above scripture is one of my favourite and it accrues to all of the children of Abraham!

As a child of God, you shall be blessed above all the people. You carry a special blessing which can’t simply be erased by any curse or anyone. The scripture breaks this blessing down:
☑️There shall be no male or female barren among you or among your cattle. This is a promise of fruitfulness and prosperity. Cattle are a symbol wealth.
☑️Sickness is not your portion, any form of sickness including the types the doctors do not understand. The Lord shall take it all away! Disease is evil, it comes from the devil and the promise here is that the Lord will ensure none of the diseases in the world will come on you.

God loves you dearly as His child and it is important to understand and embrace this truth. You might be going through a situation, raise your faith up high and declare what the word says concerning you.

Philippians 4:8 (Message Bible)
Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.

There are things to meditate on and that is the promises of God, the King James Version says “Think on these things.” It is the word that is true, noble, reputable and authentic! As a child of God, make your mind pregnant with God’s Word. Speak it and declare it all the time! Let your thoughts be centered on the Word of God.

There is a saying that goes, “water will never sink a boat unless it gets inside.” This is the same with you, all the negativity around you will not sink you if you are already full of the Word inside you. There will not be any space for things to curse but only to praise.

Declare this,

I thank you Lord for I carry the blessing. I am blessed going in and going out. Barrenness and lack is not my portion! Any form of sickness is not my portion and my loved ones. I am fruitful in every aspect of my life.

NOW ARE WE

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2 KJV)

We don’t become sons of God in heaven but “now” here on earth by the virtue we have received Him as Lord and savior. As sons of God, we hold a dual citizenship! This allows us to approach the throne of grace and fellowship with the Father and also walk here on earth!

There are many things we don’t know yet about the future but when He returns in the second coming, we shall be like Him as we shall see Him as He is!

As a son of God, He looks at you as He looks at His dear son Jesus Christ. This was all made possible by the sacrifice on the cross. The devil has lied to man for a long time, he does not want us to know the things that accrue to us. Our blood line was transferred from that of our ancestors to that of God the Father! Sickness and sin should therefore not be our portion. We should walk in the total understanding of this otherwise the enemy will make us carry what Christ already carried on the cross on our behalf!

Never look down upon yourself, the word addresses you as ‘Beloved.’ God the Father loves you dearly! Embrace His love and move in His grace, love and peace.

Declare this,

NOW am I a son of God! There is no plan of the enemy that can hold dominion over me. I receive the grace to function on this earth free from sin and disease.

ANOTHER COMFORTER

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:13-14 KJV)

The Greek word translated Comforter here is paraklētos; an intercessor, consoler: — advocate! When Jesus left earth to go and take His place at the right hand of the Father in Heaven, He did not leave us helpless. Jesus Himself was a great Comforter, healing and delivering those that were in pain even raising the dead. When His work was done, He to the Father to give us the Holy Spirit, He addresses Him as another Comforter!

The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and when one receives Him, He comes and dwells inside you! To give you direction and protection, help you pray and advocating for you in various situations.

I write today on this Easter remembering our families that experienced the deepest of pain in Southern Africa owing to cyclone Idai. I pray the Holy Spirit the Comforter touches each and everyone of us and bring comfort in the midst of the pain. Our God restores that which was lost. I also pray for those on the ground leading by example to help restore hope to those who had given up.

Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, He is with us to bring comfort and assurance. May this be your experience today no matter what you are going through. Things might be very hard but take a moment and kneel down and say, “Holy Spirit fill me. Comfort me in this situation.” When you open the door for Him with your words, He is delighted to come into your situation.

Southern Africa will be great again because God is with us. Never fear nor be dismayed. Comfort is ours because we have the Comforter with us.

Declare this,

Father thank you for giving us another Comforter. We are able to endure every situation because we do not stand alone, we have heaven’s representation in us in the form of the Holy Spirit.

YOU ARE REDEEMED

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:13-14 KJV)

The word redeemed means to ransom; buying back! Adam in the garden of Eden committed treason and gave over power to the devil opening up demonic portals that brought all sorts of suffering to humanity. You might have heard that we were all born in sin, this being from the Adamic era. We all became slaves to the devil, to command as he pleased. Jesus came not carrying the blood of Adam but that of God this is explained by the virgin birth.

Being king, he humbled Himself and became the son of Man. When the time came, He went about doing good, healing all those that were sick and oppressed by the devil. He brought redemption to human kind and presented us with a choice. To receive Him as Lord or remain under the shackles of the enemy. Being driven by love, He wants all of us to experience salvation.

He took the curse for us when he was crucified fulfilling the prophesy that says ‘cursed is he that hangs on a tree.’ The Blessing Of Abraham had to be released to everyone including Gentiles and this was accomplished on the cross through Jesus Christ. I want you to understand today that He brought all good things and the enemy, the devil of course is the author of everything bad!

It is important that you receive Him as your saviour and believe the work He did on the cross as yours. He loves you so much that if you were the only person on earth He would still have come to redeem you from the hands of the enemy. I want you to know today that the moment you receive Him, you go above all oppression and command of the enemy! You become a new creature under the bloodline of Jesus Christ, this is where the enemy can’t tread.

I pray for you today that you may understand the work that was done at Calvary. That you understand that the redemption He brought you is more powerful than any disease, poverty, oppression or circumstance.

Declare this,

Lord Jesus come into my life. Be the Lord and saviour of my life. I renounce a life of sin and take on the life that Christ brought. Every curse that pursued me is broken and I believe from now on I am a new creature in Christ Jesus!

LABOURING IN PRAYER

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. (Colossians 4:12 KJV)

Download audio version - From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Prayer is one of the key aspects that distinguishes believers from non believers. Apostle Paul in the above scripture sheds light on how any one of us as a servant of Christ can be effective in this prayer.

There are three things that stand out from this scripture. Prayer is labour, prayer must be fervent and it must consistent. Let’s look at labour; the word itself means hard physical work. We have to deploy our bodies like laborers in the work of prayer. Slothfulness will not yield the final result.

The word fervent means passionate, intense or whole hearted. There is no room for vacillation for it to be effective. You can push a mile further with passion than the one who lacks it! Your heart has to be in it, which is why it cannot be just vain repetitions. When the heart is in, the connection to the Holy Spirit is sure and you will pray with precision led by the Spirit, this will ensure the desired result.

The word consistent means done in same way over time. Jesus is the pure example of this. Even after a big event where miracles happened, He didn’t go to celebrate but went up the mountain to pray to the Father. He was consistent and hence results were evident in His ministry. We must pray when things are good, bad, worse, terrible or in any state. Jesus gave us an example of importunity in prayer when He told us about the woman who went to the judge day in a day out, her message was “avenge me of my enemies.” He was known to be careless and selfish but at some point the widow broke him and he said “ though I fear not God or man but this woman because of her persistence will destroy me.”

Your prayers will be effective from today if you deploy these three mysteries: labouring, fervent and consistent.

Declare this,

Lord help me move from slothfulness to labouring in prayer! Cause the fire of the Holy Spirit to ignite my prayer life into fervency and consistency.

DESOLATION SHALL NOT DEFINE YOU

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. (Galatians 4:27 KJV)

Download audio version - From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Joy remains key to a life of victory! It doesn’t matter what you are going through, allow joy to flow out of you. The Word clearly tells us that Jesus endured the death of the cross as He focused on the joy that was set ahead. Remain joyful in that situation, refuse to slide into fear and depression!

Those that are not in a difficult time of sorts, I encourage you today to pray, break forth and cry for those who lack and are going through hardships! Do not judge them, most are under attack from the enemy and need those around them to fight for them spiritually. When last did you pray for your Pastor and his family? They probably need your prayers more than anyone? Why? Because they are in the front line of the battle and the enemy will target them for being your pillar!

The book of Job sheds a clear light of the destruction the enemy can cause. There was no blemish in Job but he faced the worst of attacks from the evil one. Look at Paul, Satan had to assign a messenger to try and disrupt all the work he was doing in expanding the kingdom; shipwrecks, beatings, hunger etc.

The barren are encouraged to rejoice, as joy will unlock the door of their adversity. Look at the scripture again, “the desolate has more children than the one with a husband.” This I attribute to your connection to God through joy. Find ways to be joyful in your situation. I know it is hard but that hard ground will be broken by joy.

Complainers usually don’t achieve much. They lose important moments to be recipients of the blessing. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Lift your head, you will soon testify!

Declare this,

Today I choose joy over sorrow. No matter the situation I am in, I cast my burdens upon the Lord for He cares. He is changing my situation and soon I will testify in Jesus’ name!

IT SHALL BE WELL WITH THE RIGHTEOUS

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. (Isaiah 3:10 KJV)

Download audio version - From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

Every action has a reaction and the above scripture clearly shows us that. When you choose to live a righteous life, guided by the word and the Holy Spirit, there is fruit of your actions and you will eat the fruit of your doings. The opposite is true, if you choose an unrighteous path without repentance there is fruit for that too. It might seem exciting at first but as you go along, it will catch up with you.

There are times when one looks at the unrighteous and they seem to be progressing and doing well. They seem to be above the law but the truth is no matter how long, there is fruit. Any fruit bearing tree will bear fruit. It might take time depending on the type of tree but surely there will be fruit!

It is important that you daily examine your life. Are you living by His word to qualify to be called ‘righteous.’ If so, the word today is it shall be well with you. You might make a mistake here and there but teach your heart to be inclined towards repentance. Do not let yourself develop a heart of stone which the Holy Spirit cannot speak to and which God cannot rebuke. Your fruit will be sure.

Don’t cheat others, don’t steal from them! Don’t do things that the Word tells you not to. Align yourself with God’s Word and He will align with you! Then the word ‘It shall be well’ with you will apply. Desist from sin and your fruit will be sure. You might be saying, man of God I have nothing but remember as said above, there will be fruit of your doings and your tree will get to that point of bearing fruit!

I pray for you that your faith be mixed with patience. Whenever the enemy tries to turn you from the way of righteousness the Lord is giving you strength to overcome today.

Declare this
Lord help me to walk in righteousness that you have given as a gift. I choose not to turn to any other way.
