And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
(Luk 4:35-36 KJV)
Years back we embarked on an evangelism outreach into rural Mozambique. The area we went into was riddled with poverty after the war. One of the things we encountered was the clear demonic presence and activity in the area. As we preached in this place, we ended up confronting a witch doctor who kept opposing the work we were doing. When we got to her shrine, we preached the word to her and began to pray and the demons in her began to manifest. They started speaking through her, saying they would not go away because all that the woman had in her homestead was their work. They were the ones that had given her the livestock and the home. In authority given to us, we prevailed against every demonic force that was at work in the area.
Jesus’ work here on earth demonstrates to us the role of a commander. He held authority over demonic spirits and they obeyed his voice. The work of the devil on earth is to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). Wherever you see destruction and hurt, there is one who is responsible; his name is Satan and his cohorts. In authority and power Jesus addressed the activities of the devil.
His words were words of power. Anointed words to bring change and a difference! When he spoke, there had to be alignment of issues. The man had had an unclean devil in him and when he confronted Jesus, freedom came to him.
As you go through life and you come across challenges or issues that are overtly caused in the realm of the spirit, you must know that as a child of God you have been given authority and power to command issues.
Luke 10:19 tells us, “behold I give you power and authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and all over the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” We can operate as champions here on earth owing to the power and authority we have received. We can command the supernatural and emerge with victories without number.
I pray for you today that you awaken and this power and authority you have been given to operate here on earth. I pray that challenges that faced you bow down to the words of your command.
Declare today, I AM A COMMANDER!
