DANCING IN THE STORM

From the Shepherd's Desk by Charles Magaiza

As they fled before Israel, while they were descending [the pass] to Beth-horon, the Lord cast great stones from the heavens on them as far as Azekah, killing them. More died because of the hailstones than the Israelites slew with the sword. (Joshua 10:11 AMP)

As they fled before Israel, while they were descending [the pass] to Beth-horon, the Lord cast great stones from the heavens on them as far as Azekah, killing them. More died because of the hailstones than the Israelites slew with the sword. (Joshua 10:11 AMP)

One writer once said “not all storms are bad for you. Some storms come to help you.” As Joshua entered the promised land with the children of Israel, they knew that it was not going to be easy. It would be war after war as there were kings waiting to be removed so they could occupy the land! From the outside eye, they were outnumbered but they had an advantage their enemies could not discern- God!

At one time the kings of the area entered a pact and attacked the allies of Israel. God’s word to Joshua was simple, “Don’t fear them, I have given them into your hands.” Fear is the opposite of faith, it can numb one and prevent them from collecting the promises that God has laid bare before them.

In obedience, Joshua and his men of war arose. There are times when numbers do not matter but who you stand with! The multitudes fought against Israel but with God’s help victory was imminent. When the enemy realized his error in judgement, they started fleeing! They looked at numbers, counted chariots and horses but all those do not matter before God!

It is beautiful when God literally joins your battle. Your enemies might have a head start but God is always years ahead of their strategies. A storm built up and hailstones began to fall, not small ones but big! They had a target on them! The enemies of God’s people. Those who were killed by the hailstones were more than the ones that the soldiers killed. As they pursued all they could see were their enemies dead on the ground. What would be your response? Dance in the storm!

You might be facing giants, your situation might be looking impossible! Things might seem insurmountable and your resources insufficient. Through faith you can let God join this battle. When you begin to walk by faith and not by sight, He will join in and do a more than what you are capable of! He will take the sting out of that storm and your response will be to dance in praise of Him.

I pray for you today that your fears disappear and that faith takes over. You will see God in the land of the living as you begin to walk by faith and not by sight.

Declare this,

I will not be afraid of any situation that wants to displace me from my promised land. With God I know I stand like ten thousand armies. I pronounce victory in the midst of storms, and yes storms are working in my favour!

Amen Apostle. I will not be afraid of any situation that wants to displace me from my promised land. With God I know I stand like ten thousand armies. I pronounce victory in the midst of storms, and yes storms are working in my favour!
