But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5 KJV)
When you go through pain and discomfort it is not one of the easiest things especially when you are used to your independence. You can go where you want to go and do what you want to do anytime.
Now imagine Christ who carried with Him independence in the heavens, a beloved son of a loving God. Literally He had the freedom to do whatever He wanted and could command angels any day to do His bidding. One day He gave it all up, stepped down and lay down His life for a friend. He experienced pain with no one asking Him how He was feeling, in fact His tormentors looked for ways to make the pain worse for Him.
He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities. Think of it, this is in the past tense, before you could even transgress, he paid for it! Before you could engage in any form of iniquity, He was bruised for you as a full payment of the price for your redemption. He was chastised for our peace and with every stripe that went on His body, we were healed! This does not separate any condition. The deal was for Him to pay for it all, in advance!
They say Jesus received forty stripes less one, that is thirty nine. This was the Roman way of punishment. This should have given Him pain of a greater multitude than we can all imagine. One more stripe He would have died. It is by these stripes that prophet Isaiah prophetically says we were healed (past tense).
Dear saint, accept nothing of the enemy, be it a flu or a minor headache, or a sore toe because the price for your freedom from that pain was paid. It would be unfair for you to be made to pay another price for something that your Master paid for in full. It would be a day light robbery.
I pray for you today that your spiritual eyes be opened so you can see and experience the full significance of the price He paid for you on the cross.
Declare this,
I am the healed of God. I embrace the price He paid for my freedom and I choose to participate in the transaction that took place at the cross for my sake.
