For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. (Psalms 18:28 KJV)
Have you ever had a feeling you were walking in deep darkness in which there was no sense of peace or solace? I have walked this place and the only source of peace and comfort was the word of God!
David was king elect, not of men but of God, the King of Kings Himself. He came face to face with the deepest challenges, fiercest darkness that he needed to face and overcome. Not because God had left him but because God was with him. The testimony is always stronger when you overcome unlike when you don’t face it! The lion, bear and Goliath would never had been strong testimonies if David had found ways of evading them.
My blood pressure was shooting through the roof, what started as a simple leg pain seemed to be escalating. I remember one night lying stomach down on that hospital bed, I was sweating and completely out of tears. It was deep darkness I had never navigated all my life. In this moment David says, “For thou will light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” In that place where you can’t see the end of the tunnel, the Lord will light your candle. He will enlighten your darkness! He turns you into the light in the tunnel!
Stop looking for the light at the end of the tunnel, you are the light in that tunnel of sickness, debt, fear, confusion, out of place emotions and distress. Let your prayer be ‘Lord light up my candle!’ When He is done doing it, clarity comes in your mind and you can spiritually navigate the way with his guidance.
I pray for you that the light of God floods your mind so you may hear His voice only and navigate the surrounding deep darkness.
Declare this,
Even though I walk through the valley of the shad ow of death, thou are with me!
