The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. (Psalms 18:2 KJV)
Normally we define our God by the places He Has shown Himself in our lives. Sometimes it is by the kind of love He has lavished us with. David the greatest poet who ever lived is not left out in his beautiful definition of His God. Until God becomes personal to you, you are still to encounter Him.
David calls Him my rock. Now this might seem straight forward to a rock thrower but what David means is the protection he experiences in God. No arrow of the enemy can penetrate His God! He is as resolute as a rock. No spear will blast him out as he hides in his God. Who is He to you?
He calls God his fortress. Now David is going deep with this one! A fortress is a military outfit specifically planned and put together to keep the enemy out. Whatever the enemy tries to penetrate, he is bound to fall into some dingy trap unknown to him. He is a strong fortress the devil has no ideas of penetration. I have seen this in my life.
He calls Him my deliverer! Just in case the enemy got too close, God is the strong and close body protector! One who breaks the enemy’s skulls at close range and ensures that your close circle of protection maintains its integrity. No demon is allowed to dance robot or borrowdale too close to you. It will pay with a cracked skull!
He calls Him my strength, my buckler and my horn of salvation. It is a wonderful thing to have a place to call my strength! Do you have one and is it God? A buckler is a small body protection shield, just in case the enemy puts something in, this small shield will protect the hand from injury. It will take the blow on David’s behalf.
How do you define your God or rather how have you encountered Him in the past? What names do you attribute to Him?
Declare this,
I am safe in His granite hideout! There is no enemy arrow that will reach me where I am ~ in God!
