Pray to God for rain—it’s time for the spring rain— to God, the rainmaker,
Spring thunderstorm maker, maker of grain and barley. (Zechariah 10:1 MSG)
Rain is something that we see annually or should I say that we should see annually. It is like a covenant promise that God has given but we have seen some years where rain does not come at all. This is called a year of drought because the rain is what causes increase upon the earth. When it is missing, then there is no increase.
Zechariah urges us not to take the coming of rain for granted. It is a promise yes but it needs someone to rise up and pray for it, God is the rain maker and promise keeper, your part is enforcing that through prayer.
God has many promises that He has given to His children. Promises of prosperity and health. Promises of long life and great opportunities. Why are God’s children therefore languishing in poverty? Why are many sick amongst believers? The word tells us that the enemy goes around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. You need to stand guard in prayer. Prayer ensures the fulfillment of promises. It ensures that your blessing is not hi jacked along the way by the wicked one! For the thief comes only to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10).
Pray through your prosperity, pray through your health and long life. Pray through your opportunities. Never take it for granted or by assumption! It needs you to pray! One writer once said prayer is not a spare wheel, it is the steering wheel. Use it is steer your life in the direction that it must go. Don’t only think of prayer when you are in trouble. Make it your daily habit.
I pray for you that you may see the fulfillment of all blessings in your life as you commit yourself to a life of prayer.
Declare this,
My blessings will not be hijacked by the enemy. I rise up in prayer to defend my rights.
