When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.” (Psalms 27:8 KJV)
The word seek is a deep word, in the original Hebrew it is defined as “strive after: — ask, beg, beseech, desire, enquire, get, make inquisition, procure, (make) request, require, seek (for).” When the Lord spoke to David and gave the instruction, “Seek ye my face.” He answered that his “heart” said your face I will seek.
Look, seeking the Lord and building a strong bond with Him is a heart issue! It is not religious acts or natural things that one would do to try and please the Lord. It is a condition of the heart! The heart must strive after Him. He is so near but yet so far. He will not reveal Himself just like that, He wants more of you so He can reveal more of Himself! You have to ask, beg, beseech, desire, enquire, get, make inquisition, procure, make request and require, that is to seek for Him. The whole issue occupies your heart and you become like one who is pregnant with this desire.
Daniel 9:3 the prophet records that he took time to seek the Lord with prayers and fasting. It is chasing after Him and a deep desire to see His face. If you do that, you will hear His voice! It will be loud and clear! He will not invest Himself in one who is busy with other things but seeking His face.
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” The number one thing He requires of us is seeking Him and His kingdom and His righteousness. The things that we occupy ourselves with should be secondary, God easily adds them to us. His word to you today is SEEK ME TILL YOU FIND ME! Invest your time effort and heart in it. You can’t rig this one because He reads and knows your heart.
I pray for you that you awaken your heart to seeking His face, His kingdom and His righteousness. May you come to a place where your heart yearns after Him only. The things of the world must lose their power and authority over you so that your heart is released to find Him.
Declare this,
Lord I know you are near yet so far but today I choose to let my heart focus on seeking your face. I abandon all other vein pursuits that have no eternal value. I want you Lord, I want more of you!
