So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar. (1 Kings 6:9 KJV)
We all have been in a place where we had ideas and dreams we intended to implement. However, as you go through life you come to realize that it is one thing to begin something and completely another thing to finish it. A trip around town will reveal what I am talking about. You will notice some building projects that began years ago but still remain unfinished.
To finish something, there is a special grace that is required. That grace is given by God. Solomon followed through on the dream of his father king David to build God a temple. Because of the grace on him to begin and finish, he was actually able to build and finish the house.
All projects are valueless if they are not finished. It is therefore important to take a self appraisal before you begin. Ask yourself, ‘Am I equipped enough? Are my resources well in place to enable me to finish?’
Jesus, the greatest teacher that ever lived taught us about this.
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. (Luke 14:28-30 KJV)
Lack of the grace to finish brings mockery as at the core of it is poor planning. When the world sees it, they will mock you. Today, ask The Lord to touch you and impart the grace to finish.
Declare this,
I will not be mocked by the world due to inability to finish. I am receiving today the grace to finish everything that I start.
