And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. (Matthew 21:22 KJV)
Prayer is one of the most important practices often neglected by believers. Part of the reason is that our generation wants things that can be touched and interacted with through the five senses. However prayer is different, it calls for the one doing it to have faith that as they pray, God hears even though they can’t see Him with their natural eyes.
Jesus made it a habit to pray, though He was God but as long as He was on the earth He knew the power of prayer and implemented it. He did it in good times after successful crusades and in bad times when He was about to be betrayed. Prayer is talking to God, fellowshipping with Him and getting direction from Him. When one understands this, their lives will take a good turn.
Many of the challenges that we face today don’t need a prophet but a personal relationship with God which is built through prayer and study of His word. This brings you closer to the Holy Spirit who abides in every believer and He will then gain the mastery over the flesh and be able to give good counsel and direction.
Many believers don’t pray and they wonder why calamities that befall them. Many want to rely on the prayers of a prophet or man of God who sometimes might not be able to cover all the things you require. A mature believer must grow in personal prayer (the closet). This is a place where you go in and talk to God on your own regularly. It ensures that His voice becomes clear in your life.
Prayer has to be coupled with believing. Whatsoever things you ask in prayer believing, you will receive Jesus said. If you have been praying, have you been believing or doubt has been flooding your mind? There is nothing God can’t do but He wants to work with you through your faith. If he opened the eyes of those born blind, He is not limited on your prayer for provision. He holds power to change things that have not changed. He holds the power to transform difficult situations but He wants to work with you. Challenge yourself today. Start praying for thirty minutes and build it up to an hour per day. You will witness change that a prophet will not give you.
I pray for you today that as you pray believing, may change be witnessed in your life and bring glory to all those around you.
Declare this,
Father I come before you in praise and worship. I ask you to help me develop my prayer life and give me strength to defend and grow my time in the prayer closet. Thank you Jesus for giving me the grace to approach the throne of grace.
