And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? (2 Kings 7:3)
Life comes with twists and turns, happiness and disappointments, marriages and sometimes divorces. All these are moments and it is important as a child of God to know how you handle them. You might be in a place of sorrow and disappointment but I do encourage you to look to God the author and the finisher of our faith.
The four leprous men at the gate of Samaria were condemned to a life of pain and hopelessness. In the eyes of people there was no way out for them because even those who were well in the city were suffering from depression brought upon them owing to the siege of the Syrians. One of the things I want you to note here is that their liberty began with conversation. They said to one another, “Why sit we here until we die?” They explored the options they had, enter the city? Sit in the same place? Or go to the Syrians? The answer to all these “We die!”
They made their choice, going where the food was! It was better to die there than taking the other options. When they got there, they were in for a surprise. God had performed a miracle? The word that Prophet Elisha had spoken was being fulfilled. The Syrians had fled and they ate and were full, collected as much gold and silver and possibly became the richest people in the city before they alerted others to come.
Why are you sitting there complaining? Why are you sitting there until you die? Get into a conversation with those with you or yourself and explore the options. The one you choose might seem dangerous but under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we do not fail. There might be delay but don’t view it as denial.
I pray for you today that you move from depression to hope. God is on your side and so victory should be yours.
Declare this,
I thank you Father for you have an option for me. My way is not into the pit but victory. What the enemy deemed as my end is the beginning of my miracle.
