And the Lord said to Gideon, With the 300 men who lapped I will deliver you, and give the Midianites into your hand. Let all the others return every man to his home. (Judges 7:7 AMP)
Like many others, you might have felt insecure many times especially in the face of huge assignments. Your strength might have seemed insufficient and your resources seemed to diminish. Well, today there is a great lesson for us from Gideon.
Gideon was called by God to save Israel from the oppression of their enemies. Their situation was so severe in that whenever they planted crops, come harvest time the enemy would come in and destroy the fruit of their labour. There was nowhere to turn for Israel. When they cried to God for help, he sent them Gideon. Like many of us do, he doubted his capabilities. He feared and hesitated even when the Angel of the Lord appeared to him. Eventually he was able to mobilize a good number of people to go and fight the enemy.
When God looked at his army of 32,000 men he told Gideon they were too many. How do you respond to that? When he already seemed out numbered by the enemy, God saw otherwise. After this 22,000 went back and he was left with 10,000. God said to him that they were still too many for him to give the victory. Another elimination round came and he was left with 300 men! Yes 300, and God said the number was now okay!
Today, I want you to understand something: With God you are a majority! He does not count things the way man does. Remember he is not a man that he should lie not a son of man that he should not keep his promises! When you look at the numbers and get discouraged, you are making a huge mistake! God is on your side and so is his angelic hosts ready to be deployed by him on your behalf!
Those numbers you were looking at must motivate you to rise in faith. Yes the bank balance might look small, the number of friends might look small, the opportunities might seem few BUT with God you are a majority! He will multiply it by his power. That day, victory was granted to Gideon and the children of Israel. With a few many God destroyed the enemy.
I pray for you today that you become courageous in the face of huge assignments. Your season to rise to the Top has come and no one will stop you.
Declare this,
Victory is mine in this season. I refuse to look at the numbers but I look up to God the author and the finisher of my faith!
